Circle of Excellence-- The concept of a Circle of Excellence (COE) was first discussed by the AMGO Board in 1987, but was not actually developed until 1989-90.

The COE was first envisioned as a data bank of past AMGO meetings including invited speakers, AMGO speakers and program topics.  This information was compiled from 1977.   Records are updated annually.  In 1990-91, a point system was developed to recognize those members actively involved in AMGO.  A survey is mailed annually to all members in which they report participation on the Board, committees, as presenters, consultants, and authors.  Upon achieving 50 points, the member is inducted into the "Circle of Excellence" at the Annual Meeting. COE participants who continue to serve the organization are recognized at each 50-point interval.
