Welcome to AMGO

Dear Members,

It is my privilege to serve as President of AMGO for the 2009/2010 year. AMGO provides a terrific opportunity to interact and collaborate with other academic OB/GYN departments.

Many of you recently attended the annual conference held in Toronto, Canada in October where we were able to connect with each other and discuss the latest issues/trends affecting OB/GYN. We had a great panel discussion about the impact the economy has had on our departments - it was so informative to learn the strategies that others have deployed across the country. The conference also provided an excellent lineup of speakers on a variety of pertinent and usful topics.

Carolyn Gorman, President

For those not familiar with the history of AMGO, the organization was established by the Association of Professors in Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) more than 30 years ago. Its purpose is to provide an educational collegial and social network for administrators of OB/GYN to pursue the following goals:

  • To promote best practices in professional management
  • To provide a forum for discussion or management topics
  • To provide a mechanism for exchange of information
  • To interact with other organizations to accomplish these goals.

If you are not currently a member, I welcome you to join AMGO and experience all these professional and personal benefits. An application is found on this website. Please feel free to contact me, Carolyn Gorman, membership chair, if you would like more information about the benefits of being an AMGO member. We would be happy to share our experiences.

I would also like to encourage all of our members to get involved with AMGO. As you know, we are a member supported organization and need all the help we can get. I have learned so much serving on the various committees and on the board. It is professionally and personally rewarding and really great to work with such a collegial and supportive group.

I am happy to anounce that the 2010 Annual Meeting will be held in Scottsdale, Arizona at the Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resport and Spa at Gainey Ranch from September 26 to 29, 2010. It's a beautiful location and a great meeting venue. We look forward to seeing you there!

Sincerely,
Carolyn Gorman
